Descent

Just came back from practicing Nathan's piece "Descent." I'm glad Nathan managed to write something real quick for the forum, unlike e who procrastinate all the time which ended up with "zero" output. Well, I'm not glad for my part (the piano) which is this non-stop chords action that is making my hand/fingers sore! Grr, of course part of the fault is me and bad technique. But seriously, I get my fingers entangled at the end of the piece. Aside from that, it's a really awesome piece though.

Went to Jasper's and Josephine's birthday thingy (but mainly Jasper's) with Jasper, Josephine, Min, Brendan, Ryan and Mark on Friday. It was pretty fun indeed, took heaps of photos too! We went to Glenelg, and that was the first time I went there. At the end of the day, I went to one of the restaurants to get Joe and Viv's engagement present (dining voucher thing).

Well, Viv and Joe's engagement thing was on yesterday. Since Viv was a Vietnamese, the engagement ceremony things were done in a Vietnamese way, and it was crazy! I couldn't tell if I were in an engagement party or a wedding! But it was awesome, everybody was pretty, and of course, especially Vivian! Joe, you lucky guy!

Then, I came home, and slept from 6pm till 5am! And then I slept again until like 7:30ish. I had a lot of sleep! =D for once.

Doctor Atomic

I'm testing this feature at blogger that I have overlooked in the past. Let's see if it works.

Well, today was quite eventful. Morning was pretty lazy where I woke up at 10am. Off I went to my MSN as usual and ended up being late to my History tute. As the result, I missed a few presentations that I would like to see. I went to the tute after mine. I skipped forum in favour of practicing the piece "Descent" composed by Nathan for Alto Sax, Bassoon, Tenor/Baritone and Piano. The piano part isn't at all easy and is full of annoying rhythms that repeats but is, nevertheless, tricky. The rehearsal was pretty good though, let's hope that we can manage to play it by forum next week.

Charles (composition teacher) had done a final check on my Pie Jesu, and he said that it's okay now. I think it has gone a tremendous amount of improvements ever since I showed him. He then suggested me to start thinking of a long term project during the break, perhaps for either the Wind Orchestra or Symphony Orchestra. I'm delighted to hear that he would like to get my composition played by one of the large ensembles in our conservatorium. Oh, and he also complimented me on how quick I pick up the small suggestions he made, that was some time ago but I'm still pretty happy with it; just gives me more motivations you see.

Anyway, aside from that we had our first stage Dido and Aeneas rehearsal today, complete with some minor actions. It was pretty cool, can't wait for the real performance. I haven't yet memorised the whole thing, but I could sing most of the parts, so it should be okay. After that, Tim and I went to Chinatown to have tea and I came back.

Can't wait for the Doctor Atomic screening. Been reading good stuffs about it just now, and the music preview sounded awesome too. That would be a delight. One of the aria, supposedly one of the most contemplative aria in the opera (or the most?) is really beautiful. It uses a sonnet by John Donne.

Batter my heart, three person'd God ....
Take me to you, imprison me, for I
Except you' enthrall me, never shall be free,
Nor ever chaste, except you ravish me.

The three person'd God represents Trinity, also the project for the nuclear test. True, that most people who were there wouldn't care. In fact they would be pretty excited to have devised something that can blow them Japanese apart, but it's still sad imagining to be one of these people who sees the test. It's like they see the future, the future of what the nuclear bomb could do. To see a small scale of a weapon that can wipe the whole humanity. I think John Adams said something pretty interesting about it, "the atomic bomb really is, in a sense, the "constellation" of everything America stands for. Both what makes us great and what makes us a problem in the world."

Sadly, the atomic bomb isn't the only thing that makes America a problem in the world.

Less Troubles

Well, I've finished (sort of) my assignments! Not that great, but it's hand-inable! Hopefully at least lol. Watched the Wind Orchestra concert today, which was quite a treat. Then Matt's parents sent me home, how nice of them T_T

Oh, Kale, I know, well, that girl, mightn't even be "religious" or anything. A lot of these stuff are translated directly to English and Indonesian uses a lot of "religious" idioms and stuffs. Who cares anyway, the main point is that she was freaking rude to my sister and all. Great thing that everything's fine now :D

Dream, more dream please! I love dreams, even the weird ones. In fact, the weird ones are intriguing. The state of one's mind during dream is very interesting. Another thing we did in composition class is listening to Berio's Third Movement of his Sinfonia, which is like a stream of consciousness. You could tell from the really random sounding texts and music (a lot of random music being collaged into it).

Anyway, I'll write down my holiday plans in my next post :D Until then.

More Troubles

I apparently had something due last Tuesday, which I haven't started at all yet. Gosh, I need to finish it tomorrow. I am totally screwed, it's pretty detailed and I haven't even thought of it properly yet. I hope today's dream would reveal what I should write on the assignment.

Talking about dreams, I had a weird dream last night. It was in a jungly place, and it's a settlement. Apparently, I live there. And that particular day, I did something wrong, it was pretty petty but I got jailed for that. Despite that, the jail thing is pretty lenient where I can go out with my mates to eat and stuff. And then I got tried and they made me do things, like stuffs I dunno (which is kinda okay, not weird stuffs). But I bargained with them, telling them that I will not do it.

Then I got sent back to my jail, this time, I had no shirt on and no shoes on too (I remembered, the floor was dusty and dirty and the wall was pretty rough, I know because I was leaning against the wall). Then a guy came in with my dad, grim faced. Another guy came in, he was a doctor-ish kinda guy. And well, they basically told me that they decided to put me to an endless sleep -_- Well, they told me that they will perform a death thingy on me... Well, I was freaked and then I woke up. lol

Pretty weird, but nothing to worry about =D I'm still alive and well.

Other than that, I'm pretty much screwed for my Music Technology assignments....

Double, Double, Toil and Trouble

Somebody has written these about my sister:

hey people,
please do tell stephanie tjin how i hate her a lot!
yeah
you can spread lies to everyone about barbie girls and Aden
but you cant cheat God
He knows the truth
and one day, you will regret what you did to us.
i am too kind to not telling people about you (!)
and also...
oh pleaseee.....
stop pretending to be an angel (!)
because angel have a kind heart, telling the truth, and angel is not BLACK and SHORT!
if you are so mad to read this, let me tell you!
i am more than you do!
shit!

ohya, anw, if you would like to know her secrets and badness that she did,
ask me! i will answer!

(The gay looking fonts, pathetic grammar, horrifying abbreviations, high degree of "modesty" and lamentable whine is copied straight off her blog).

On top of that, I'm pretty sure this ST refers to my sister.

few minutes hours ago,
i heard a bad an evil tidings.
initial ST ruined everything (!)
she is a real bitch
that is how i describe her
shit!
*ugly black dwarft*!

(the obvious spelling error is definitely copied too).

I'm going to leave a message at her shoutbox so she can be redirected to this post.

From now onwards, I am talking to the person who owns this blog.

You talked about God and criticising my sister at the same time, huh? On top of that, you even called my sister a "bitch," "dwarft (WTF is this? you mean dwarf? learn how to spell, fool)" and "black and small". Your self righteousness is amazingly awesome. And by the way, who is to say that Angels aren't black and short? Have you seen one? You seem to a really modest person too, calling yourself "too-kind," I admit that I am not at all a great person, but I'm sorry I have to say that you are pathetic. Have you tried reading the things you wrote? If you haven't, I suggest you doing so, and while you are at it, please visit this website for a great revelation.

Rather than whining, why don't you just shut the f**k up and get the f**k off my sister?

That would be kindly appreciated.

P.S. Stephanie did not tell me about this until I asked her about it. So, don't you go and whine about how "Stephanie told her brother" about all these in your cute lil' blog.

---

Alright, I have said what I wanted to say. Sorry for the vulgarness and the swear words that I don't normally say. I have no excuses to justify my doing.

On a lighter note, I borrowed 6 John Adams CDs (5 of them worked) from the library. These CDs include Nixon in China, which I daresay is a great opera. Other great works by him I just borrowed are his Grand Pianola Music and Harmonium. I guess writing an essay about him gives me the excuse to listen to more of his music.

Uni restarted today. It was pretty short, two Music Technology classes and that's about it. Matt and I practiced Hindermith's Bassoon and Piano Sonata for a bit. I seriously suck at playing that piece.

Well, Min asked me to come to her place and have dinner with them. Unfortunately, I don't fancy coming home late, so I decided to just not go.

Haven't been to the Bells group yet, must ask Carl where and what time it is at.

Aku

Kalau sampai waktuku
'Ku mau tak seorang kan merayu
Tidak juga kau.

Tak perlu sedu sedan itu!

Aku ini binatang jalang
Dari kumpulannya terbuang.

Biar peluru menembus kulitku
Aku tetap meradang menerjang,

Luka dan bisa kubawa berlari
Berlari
Hingga hilang pedih peri

Dan aku akan lebih tidak perduli.

Aku mau hidup seribu tahun lagi.
